#69323 - RE: set TMOD in timers Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Hi Charles,
You wrote: It doesn't make it CLEARER to me. In fact it only confuses the reader. I think Oleg statement is MUCH more clearer. KISS = keep it simple stu... Maybe Olegs example make it clearer to someone that has the memory capacity to remember that TMOD.4 is timer 1 mode 1 and the optical capacity to spot it is bit 4 without counting. I do, however, believe that very few has the capacity to recall the myriad of bits the '51 SFRs contain (e.g. for the large Cygnals it is more than 1000). re: "KISS = keep it simple stupid", I totally agree with you, we only differ on what is simple and what is not. On another note, the construct of my standard is as it is in order ro make it possible to do a global search on EVERYTHING that affect a given SFR. The example here is a SFR that is not bit addressable and thus, of course, TMOD will appear in every access, but for the bit addressable the names such as SB_TCON_TR1 really makes it work.
