Hello All,

I have an application where a hardware reset is initiated if no valid data is received through the serial buffer after 5 seconds. This is to "cure" an occasional lock-up which I suspect is due to noise on the serial input lines.

The device is normally running 24/7 and receives data from a host PC every second. My concern is the host could be shut down for up to 2 weeks, whilst the P87C52SBPN is left running. Is the continual re-setting likely to cause damage to the microcontroller?
