Why dont you use some RTC for clock purpose, since the 89c2051 timer runs on crystal/12 i.e. in your case 1.08 micro sec so it will be dificult to get the accurate timming. Rest as per your question At89c2051 works on 3.6 V and clock will be same no slow or fast.
