It is a tough call.....particularly if you use the serial shifter interface. In serial modes the graphics LCD controllers operate in a write only manner. If you have the thing in a parallel interface scheme then you should be able to read back those registers that are R/W to see if they contain what you wrote. If you get the VEE generator initialized you can see the voltage switching on the filter capacitors with a scope.
