#70869 - RE: MMU
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Steve M. Taylor said:
AFAIK No MMU means no Linux.

From the ucLinux site (link provided by Narasimha Rao):

"uClinux is a derivative of Linux 2.0 kernel intended for microcontrollers without Memory Management Units (MMUs)."

http://www.uclinux.org/description/

However, it boasts the following resource requirements as "much, much smaller than the original Linux 2.0 kernel:"

  • uCkernel < 512 kb
  • uCkernel + tools < 900 kb

- and that's just the Kernel!
Still not a job for an 8051 then
