Unless you have say a hardware RTC you'll have fun. What is your time reference ?? Oh yes, its the crystal ! Perhaps an external RC oscillator would give you something to use as a check, or a one-shot, triggered by the reset signal, pulling an external pin low for a period, then going high ?
