"I want to learn PLD programming."
It would also be a good idea to identify a serious project, however small it is , to use the skill set that you will acquire. In all such self learning projects, unless you have an opportunity to test out or use the final hardware, the progress is nothing to shout about! The first two chapters or so, fly by and just when you want to do more, there comes a really tough patch and the process slows down. There is no deadline / motivation to complete and the project dies a natural death. If that sounds depressing - don't worry it is purely my experience. (While cleaning my drawer today I happened to see that brand new FPGA development kit that I got almost a year back. I found the learning curve for the FPGA/CPLD quite demanding in terms of the various files and steps that you have to contend with particularly when starting raw.) You can maybe download the PDF " Programmable Logic Design Quick Start Handbook " from the Xilinix web site Good luck. Raghu |
