#72146 - RE: Clock Crystal Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Hi James,
"When the interrupt is triggered a routine in the program runs to determine spark delay then to fire the plug. This way I don't have the alternate cylinder triggering an interrupt while I have a timer trying to track something else. " Having reached this level, a few inputs on the actual values of the spark delays will help settle the issue. I am sure you are going to talk of millisecond values and if that is the case you can take it for granted that one MCU is all that you need. The guy ( our beloved MCU )can be so fast in comparison, that he can handle both your cylinders and have time left to flash a tail lamp if you so desire! OK I may be oversimplifying the issue - but as Michael Neary told - just hang on to the idea of using a SINGLE mcu for a little longer and you will be happy you did so. PS: If you ask me, I will maybe the use other MCU as a redundant back up unit that can takeover when the first fails - without you or the engine noticing the difference. How to code this ? Well I have not done it so far - just a wild idea ;-) Raghu |
