#72261 - 74HC595 Emulator using 74LS164 & 74LS373 |
Hello,
I don't have any 74HC595 available locally. Checked pricing from Digi-key and James Electronics which is about $0.50 (US) each. Each have a minimum order amount ($25 Digi-Key and $20 James electronics). Any order below that has a $5 handling charge. Shipping is about $7 for both. All of this for a $0.50 IC. I decided to emulate the 74HC595 using what I do have. I realize the voltage levels will be different (TTL [0-0.7 VDC= Low, >2.7 V = H] Vs CMOS) but in my application it is not going to be a factor. I wanted the opinions of forum members on the below circuit to confirm it will work. All comments are welcome. Thank you, Charles Bannister ![]() |
