Someone connected an old ram chip from an old 486 motherboard, to a mcu on a breadboard. I didn`t know that it`s possible, to access static ram with a mcu.

By accident, I found the same WINBOND chip`s in my IC box. So..it would be great to have some more information. Hmmm.. Did I get it right? Is it possible to expand the flash memory of the mcu with the ram ?

Yes it is possible. If you start looking on the internet for 8051 or 8052 you should have come across following site:

besides that it is also mentioned in the 805x bible (see "links" section), but that has already been mentioned by other people.

Conclusion: it is NOT limited to Winbond chips...
