As a student i see it often, they just don't care about anything, or they are soooo lazy.
It is like the teachers or workers who go to work only for their checks
I like the japanese enterprise culture:

honesty, to be on time, disciplined
do the things well, give more than you recieve
then you will feel well with yourself,
then sooner or later you will have stuff
