#72740 - Webmaster input Responding to: ???'s previous message |
In my young time when there was FiDOnet used only, we were banned if have tried to discuss about not related things. There was a good suggestion I remember about: if you do not like something then contact Moderator directly, not within a forum. I too came from Fidonet. In fact, I was the NC (Network Coordinator) of Denver Net 1:104 back around 1993 or so. :) I also remember a saying from the Fidonet days that is very applicable today: "Thou shall not be excessively annoying and thou shalt not be too easily annoyed." In that spirit, I would very much would like to ask everyone the following. These will probably be incorporated into the forum rules at some point in the future. 1. "Thou shalt not be excessively annoying and thou shalt not be too easily annoyed." 2. If you think a question is insufficient, inappropriate, or a waste of time you may either ignore it or score it negatively as appropriate. Please do not respond to questions you think are unworthy of a reply. 3. If you don't think ignoring the message or scoring it negatively is sufficient, please contact either Steve Taylor or me via email with your complaint and we'll consider taking further action. But, again, this should be done via email, not in the forum. 4. I agree that too much time and forum space is being used to discuss moderation, administration, and how to treat members instead of discussing the topic of this forum which is 8052. Everyone should please stop worrying about that, use the scoring system, report offenses to the moderators (Steve and me), and let us do the moderating. The scoring system is meant so you can voice your opinion without saturating the forum with bickering. A nice solid "-3" score on a message tells the poster his message wasn't appreciated and the breakdown of the score gives him a good idea of why. Let's just leave it at that rather than verbally flaming or criticizing each post that doesn't meet expectations. Regards, Craig Steiner 8052.com Webmaster |
