But, like I said, a SiLabs controller will outperform it at a much lower frequency. Depending on the actual code, the speed improvement will be somewhere between 6 and 8 times, so roughly speaking, a SiLabs controller at only 10MHz will be as fast or even faster!

There is an interesting White Paper on the performance of the SiLabs core for standard maths routines.
