#74015 - RE: 8052.com Server Move Responding to: ???'s previous message |
8052.com will be hosted at two providers during the first days of the move, due DNS propagation delays? if not, inform us the ip addres, if possible. Yes, 8052.com will be hosted at two providers for at least a couple days and probably a couple weeks to allow for DNS propagation. During that time the current (old) server will automatically connect to the new site so even if your DNS returns the address of the old server, you will actually be getting the same results as if you were connecting to the new server. Messages posted to the old server will automatically be applied to the new server and new messages on the new server will also be visible on the old server--and this will happen constantly in real-time so, again, there should be no impact on visitors. The only potential impact is if someone's DNS isn't updated by the time we take the old server offline but since we plan to do that in several weeks I can't imagine that that would happen. Best regards, Craig Steiner 8052.com Webmaster |
