Now, I know that some high-end soundcards can have samplefrequencies of upto 192kHz, but I've never seen any that could handle frequencies in the MHz region. And if you want to do any useful measurements on a digital system, that is what you need! With the speed of todays logic circuits, a 60MHz 'scope is about the minimum you can get away with. The rise- and fall times are such that with lower bandwith you will not be able to spot any problems such as ringing. Rob. PS. I do use my soundcard as a 'poor man's spectrum analyzer'. For audio frequencies only, of course. |
