Within the limits of the maximum gate drive current, you WANT lots of current in the gate to charge the gate capacitance as fast as possible and switch the FET on and off fast,this reduces dissipation at the expense of noise ringing, and other nasty effects. See Kai on snubbers in earlier threads.
Why not use a stepper driver chip ? Steve |
