#75121 - RE: Please do not misuse Karma..... Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I hope Kai will agree with me on this.
Maybe my reply now will give me the correcting negative karma point... People have many ways to show that they are upset. Some respond with a joke. And I was upset, when I read Sy Teh's post! How can one reach the final year and has absolute no idea what to choose for the final year project??? Sorry, but that's very disappointing! But what makes me become even more upset is, to ASK US what he should choose for the final year project. That's the same as if I would ask you, what I should give my mother to her birthday. It's impossible to give any good advice unless you know me and my mother. Means, we all could Sy give a good advice only if we would know him, know what his hobbies are, whether he likes blinking leds or something that makes noise, etc. We should know, what he has done in the years before, in what categories he has gained some relevant knowlegde, that could be used in the final year project. But we know absolutely nothing and couldn't find any helpful hint in his post. The only consequence of such a posted question is a more or less wild list of all applications ever done with a microcntroller... Such a question is really stupid. Nevertheless this questions is again and again posted here, but never showing any fruitful result. If someone feels the stimulus to ask, what he could do with a microcontroller because he has absolutely no idea, then that's perhaps the moment to decide doing something different in the future, maybe car tuning, collecting stamps, making sports or something else. About Karma points: As long as Karma points are not given by a neutral 'court of arbitration' they make only sense, when very many of them are given by the various members. If only a small number of Karma points are set, as in these days, system will suffer from 'statistical noise'. Means, I have seen some very profound replies not getting any positive Karma point while at the same time rather unhelpful replies got them. Introduce of Karma points was a good idea, I think. But if the consequence is, that people like Michael are no longer making funny postings, then this forum would lose something. Think of the fabulous 'spoon', for instance. If the 8052 forum had an escutcheon, well, it would show this legendary spoon... Kai |
