The robot moving base, after disassembly:
haha~ the light sensor board before soldering:
I'm proud of my soldering skill... This is the "kicker", to kick the ball. It is operated by a modified servo (circuit removed). In the centre is a magnet, and a reed switch is on the robot's body, to locate the kicker position.
The reed switch position is clearly shown here:
