Probably what you say is quite right. Especially since the precision you set on even a lathe/milling machine is 0.001 mm ( 1 micron ) to achieve 10 micron on the component after mechanical effects like screw backlash, drive train stiffness etc.

Thanks anyway , I was just looking for feasibilty opinions. Would love to get some contradictory opinions though .. :0).
