Rob, the standard baud rates of most communication programs are 110, 300, 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, 38400, 57600 and 115200. There is no way his 8051 clone is going to communicate with the real work at 31,250 baud using a standard communication program.

Erik, When someone says they have a "8051" IC it's safe to say they mean a 8051 not 8052.

Seeing Gregory is using a 89C2051 which doesn't have a timer 2 option the maximum standard baud he will get is 9600.
