#77690 - Please help a total beginner... |
Hi.
I want to develop a small electronic device which will display a few numeric displays (LCD or LED), have a couple of switches attched, two sensors (probably IR) and run a program to make things happen. I can write the (pseudo) code for the controlling program, no problem; but I would now like to actually develop something as a prototype. I'm told that this 8052 thingy is a good place to start. Is this correct? I have my trusty PC ready and waiting, but I really have no idea where to go from there. I assume that I need some form of microprocessor board which I can connect the switches and lights to and download the program code to. I programmed a Motorla 8600 many years ago as part of my degree course (Computer Science), so I have a basic understanding of what I am getting myself into, but I also know that I am going to need a lot of help. I've read the FAQ for "What hardware do I need?" but to be honest, that started talking about EPROMS and then said that I probably didn't need one. However, it failed to tell me what I DID need. Someone might like to revisit that FAQ and update it. :-) So, Oh Mighty 8052 Gurus... Where do I start? Many thanks for all constructive comments, Martin Bryant 8052 Newbie |
