Beside a function was recommended or not, if it was implemented, it must work.

Have you looked into the map file, if the remaining stack was to small with "using" ?

E.g. you can declare some additional variables to get the same stack size as with "using".
If it crashes then, a stack overflow was the reason.



Also you should ask the Keil support, where can be the fault.
