#7806 - Frequency Generator
Good day, its me again. I have a Philips P89C51RD+ which is basically an 8051 that can run at 32Mhz. Now I have one port pin outputting a pulse train of high-low-high, etc. Anyway, I have a keypad inputting the frequency. I want to be able to output a frequency from 1khz to 600khz in steps of 1khz. Anyway, I have good accuracy at the lower frequencies but not at higher frequencies. So I can step up from 1khz upwards in steps of 1khz, but as the frequency gets higher, the steps go up in steps of 10khz and the 20khz, and gets worse. So I can never get exactly 405khz. I am using the programmable clock out, but the frequency formula given in the datasheets confirm that the frequency would get exponentially worse as the frequency increases. Also the datasheets indicate that I can get a frequency from 122hz to 8Mhz. Any ideas?
