Yes and no. I have used the 74HC4046 for frequency synthesis, but not in this way exactly. It is pretty standard to use a PLL in this way though. Certainly not my idea. Jay, Oh. Please forgive my ignorance. Will it give 1kHz to 600kHz in 1kHz increments? Robert, I forgot to mention that you would need a 1kHz reference for that idea. You would have to study the '4046 datasheet in detail to determine if the VCO can actually cover that range. Their are some design tradeoffs involved that make it a little tricky. Cory Spackman |
