ASTM methods are the best, anyone can turn up to their meetings and contribute. Voting members pay about 100 USD /year. There is none of this nomination by an accredited body, like BSI and ISO use, so ASTM is full of interested individuals, not company hacks, at least not many.... If your contribution is sensible, it is accepted.

Members get a free VOLUME of standards, often from their own group, but it can be whatever, and individual standards are cheap.

Pity really.
