As far as the terminal emulator's concerned, it makes no difference at all which particular 8052 variant is being used; all the terminal emulator "knows" is that it sends stuff to a COM: port and receives stuff from a COM: port - what is connected to that COM: port is entirely irrelevant. (in fact the terminal emulator doesn't even "know" if it's talking to a real RS232 connection, or something just pretending to be a COM: port - like a PCI modem, or some USB thingy that presents a virtual COM: port interface on the PC...) But, as you say, "what your 8052 will be doing" may well have a bearing on the requirements of the terminal emulator. We still await clarification on this! |
