Yes, you are right, EMC can be a mad world. And there's nothing worse than a dogmatic point of view! I would also add that a PC is not a shining example of how grounding philosophy should be enacted. But please keep in mind, that a PC has clock frequencies of several hundreds of MHz running over the board. And communication to modern hard disks and other modules isn't slowly either. If you have a look at http://www.compliance-club.com especially the portfolio of Mr. Keith Armstrong (which is a very nice guy by the way), then you will see, that almost every of the latest EMC design rules is followed by the manufacturer of PC. So, to me the todays EMC design of PCs does not seem to be unsuited. If so, they would fail the CE tests... How would you design a PC? Kai |
