#82544 - Links in new windows Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I, on the other hand, generally seem to find that filled-in data is lost once I've clicked away from an "input" page :-( That'll be why I habitually use the right-click and "open in new window" approach. Same here. I always click on links with the middle button on my mouse which opens up another tab (not window) in the browser. Ah, the joy of tabbed browsing. Yet another reason not to use Internet Explorer. I would not consider this (losing text if you click on a link) a problem if it were not for the fact that it didn't happen with the old version of the forum. I didn't change the form input--at least not intentionally--so I do plan to go back and see if I can figure out what changed in that respect and make the current behavior mimic the old behavior. Erik, for what it's worth, everything you described works fine under Opera and Mozilla with no loss of text with both the old and new version of the site. While the fact that the behavior has changed under IE with the new site does suggest something changed in the new HTML code, the fact that it still works on both Mozilla and Opera suggests to me that Internet Explorer is an aggrivating factor here. I will, however, attempt to decipher and compensate for Microsoft's shortcomings. :) Rats, even when someone stops using Microsoft products one cannot escape the failures of their products. :) Regards, Craig Steiner |
