I don't know if doing DSP with a microcontroller is necessary, with DSPs as cheap as they are(100 MIPS ~$6.00, 1k).
If someone really wants to do that, the Cygnal chips are an option, or the Dallas 89C420, PIC18CXXX, or Ubicom 100 MIPS micro. Unfortunately using these chips may be more expensive than using a DSP. If floating point was required a microcontroller would be inappropriate. Instead of doing DSP with a microcontroller, how about doing microcontroller with a DSP? Cory Spackman |
