I disagree. I understand what the tables say and the text. Yes, you can declare other data types while still using the compact model. I never said you couldn't. I was referring to the notes reference to the default use of variables in the compact model. I wrote: "If you use the compact model you are telling the compiler to use only PDATA and you are limiting your variable space to a 256 byte page." You wrote: Not true: you are actually just telling the compiler to use PDAT by *default*; you can still use the BDATA, IDATA, XDATA, specifiers to use the other memory areas, if required. My mistake. I left out the word default but thought you would understand it. :) You obviously know more about than Peter or myself so, why don't you ask Triscend? ;) Allen |
