3) reset time and polarity

And you will most likely find out what you need to change.

Caveats:
Sometimes, when using "equivalent" chips a shortcoming in the design will show up due to differences in timing (still within the specs) drive overload one chip could handle, the other not. So, if your design is not TOTALLY and 100% within the min/max of the chip this could be it.
Also, when using "equivalent" chips deficiencies in Vcc decoupling and such is likely to show up.
