Intel called the rom-less version 8032, but often it was a mask-ROM version with some bug in the masked firmware. The manual required to tie EA low for 8032.
But don't search 8032 (although you might get them really very cheap in some places); see my answer #83506 in the other thread. The added bonus of using a version with smaller FLASH memory such as the AT89C52 (or perhaps better AT89S52, featuring in-situ reprogrammability) is, that you can debug your hardware with short routines fitting into the internal FLASH, so you don't need to erase the EPROM each time you want to change your code. And you still can mix both - internal and external - having some part of the code in internal and other in external memory. Jan Waclawek |
