#83809 - External Memory Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Laszlo,
I appreciate that you have posted your question in the existing relevant thread. For example take a ROMless type of controller, put EA to low and a latch, and an EPROM. Yes, EPROM must be correctly mapped in the external code memory space and every component should be functional (you must be sure that nothing is faulty) Oscillator should be running and the microcontroller should get a reliable RESET pulse when you power it up. Next your software should be bug free. You can check it in a simulator if it works as expected or not. The software does not require anything special whether executing from internal or external code memory. May be everything is fine but you had set the interval (between on and off for a particular LED) too little? And why are you playing with external EPROMS, why not buy a micro with built-in flash? At least your doubts upon latch, EPROM and other glue logic would end. Did you buy a ready made test board or made it yourself? |
