Each sensor has a unique ID, and the system can determine the number & IDs of sensors attached automatically - See Dallas documentation for details. (of course that would need extra code space - that you don't currently have!) The problem comes if you need to relate a specific device ID to a specific temperature measurement; eg, "which sensor monitors motor No 1?" or "which sensor is in the Living Room?"
