If you can get your hands on a PLC, pull it apart and see how they design their circuits - it's just a microprocessor and some i/o like you're doing. I think the whole problem here, and with many similar threads, is the thinking that it's "just a microprocessor and some i/o" Sure, in principle it is just that - but the practicalities of turning this from a fag-packet, breadboard lash-up into a reliable system suitable for application in a harsh industrial environment are where the all the hard work and experience really count. A ready made, commercial PLC will have been thoroughly designed & tested for this environment, based on years of knowledge, skill and experience with all the associated issues. |
