Detecting deformities? Are you comparing the sampled ECG against a normalized pattern, looking for edges, ... what? Seems to me this is related to non-linear signal processing, maybe you'd be better asking about this topic in comp.dsp newsgroup... but think twice before posting questions like this one (yes, it's yours, posted four days ago in this forum):
