#87839 - OSD chips Responding to: ???'s previous message |
The STV5730 is (was) a real nice part, but it's a dead part, the last orders for it were taken over a year ago. When I looked into the M35062, it was hard to get unless you had a good distributor...Mitsubishi didn't seem to want to sell less than 10,000 at a time. That may be changed now with Renesas, I don't know. That part was also nice, but difficult to use initially because of an abysmally poor datasheet. The BOB-3 board appears to be using one of these parts.
Both of these parts are text only, although some Mitsubishi/Renesas parts have done downloadable character that you might be able to make some crude graphics with. The industry seems to be going away from such parts, or at least is only interested in selling large quantities. A do-it-yourself approach will probably be necessary. Perhaps a CPLD, ram and video encoder? Dennis |
