#87965 - A better idea Responding to: ???'s previous message |
A nice idea I used which is based on modern radar techniques designed to increase spacial resolution is to send your pulse as a pseudo random sequence and implement a matched filter which is basicaly a FIR with the tap co-efficients set as time reversed version of the transmitted pulse.
The matched filter performs auto-correleation on the recived pulse. Through some slightly wiggly maths you can show that this is efffectivly the same as sending a very short pulse at a high signal amplitude but without all the hassle of actualy generating the very short pulse. The matched filter has the effect of compressing the recieved pulse in time. |
