I wrote the second LCD tutorial, which is based on the first LCD tutorial, with some code added to drive in 4bits mode. I did try the 4bit code I wrote on a 89C2051, only difference is I used a different pin in place of P3.6, because P3.6 is not present on the 2051. Altough I haven't tried the 8bit drive code, I'm absolutely sure the 4bit code DOES work. And, it tests the busy flag and doesn't use delay routines.
