Instead of answereing your question, I'll ask you one:
What happens if the "ground" on your board and everything connected to it is raised, say, 20V above ground and then returned to ground? Answer: Nothing. So, the real question is: are the signals from the machine parts you interface with relative to chassis ground? if so, you are already chassis grounded. Much more important than "to chassis ground or not to chassis ground" is that your board and all devices it connect to are grounded at ONE central point. Then that central point can jump for joy and nothing will happen to the machine. Erik |
