Hi Sascha,

the nice 590 is only available as HC590 (20MHz).
You can try to get the AC569 or ACT569 (117MHz).

On using CPLDs you can try the CoolRunners from XILINX, e.g. the XCR3064XL. Especially, if you want low current consumption, since they are CMOS devices.
The programming can be done over the parallel port. All needed tools are on the XILINX web.
Unfortunately it is 3.3V only. Until April you can order 5V devices (XCR5064C), but they are discontinued.
