#8935 - Distributed Processing, Manufacturing
The product that I have been developing has been needing more and more speed, ram, and program space. The 4th iteration of the design overloaded the single 8052 (2 MIPS). The 5th prototype is using 5 microcontrollers and there is more than enough time and space to accomplish the needed tasks.
The next prototype will use 10 controllers.
Here is my thought. Can distributed processing hint at a method of manufacture? I propose to sell the technology in the form of PCBs and cables and the license to build one each of the product with all the information available on a web site.
I am protected by a patent.
It would be a kit-build product.
The builder or manufacturer would be responsible for fabricating whatever parts are neccessary to enclose and secure the PCBs and cables. That person would also develop the marketing, pricing, and warranty. And if I supply less than 51% of the labor to accomplish the finished product, I would not be directly liable to any customers.
This would free me to concentrate on research and development of software and hardware.
Could this work?
Anyone have experience with product development from start to finish?
A good idea is like gold it can stand the fire of critisizm.

I'll brace myself,
Buck Stein
