I should guess that the scintillation counter is setting the MIC 5009 into a gated counter. Its a job that you could easily do with an 8052 and then download scintillation counts to a PC through the serial ports. I recently did a very similar job with a very old Photon-Counter unit.What kind ot count rated will the existing unit perform ?
