#91362 - Parking sensors - UK Responding to: ???'s previous message |
By coincidence, I just bought an 8 sensor (four front, four rear) parking aid for my car. It was just 40gbp from:
http://stores.ebay.co.uk/GPS-Deals...E-AUCTIONS Haven't fitted it yet, but it seems to work fine on the bench. Of course, I opened it up to find it well constructed - mostly SMD on fibreglass - exceptional value (even so, bet the Chinese sell it for around 10gbp!). No 8051, but a 16-dip socketed cpu with numbers scratched off. It has a relay to swap between front and rear groups of four sensors. Each sensor has a drive circuit and tuned 'tank' coil. Each is driven, one at a time, with a 0.5ms burst of 40kHz (giving >100v p-p on the piezo!) and presumeably, after the burst, it listens on the same sensor. A 3ft range would take around 6ms for the echo to propagate. |
