#92633 - for oscillator, use an oscillator :-)
Responding to: ???'s previous message
I had never problems with the first style (although usually using 27pF to 33pF capacitors for 12MHz). Both resistors are already included internally. Read the bibles. And, of course, keep the tracks lengths to minimum.
But if you ask for the best option, it is always the best to use an external oscillator (as a device). Contrary to the X+internal oscillator, it is guaranteed to oscillate in wide range of temperatures, and has defined startup time. But, of course, in 99.9% of cases, the Xtal+internal oscillator will do as good...

Have fun!
