#92939 - beware of SILabs Responding to: ???'s previous message |
If you use SILabs chips beware.
They consider standards a joke. Some of the chips (especially the later releases) have crazy stuff like XTAL2 as the input to the oscillator, non-standard SFRs with standard names, standard SFRs with nonstandard names and more. There is nothing, per se, wrong with the chips, but if you are going by '51 experience you WILL get caught. SO, make sure you study all 100+ pages of the datasheet for that particular device and when you choose another of their offerings, do it again for that chip. Please note: this is not a criticism of enhancements (I love them) but of being different for the sake of being different (what would be so hard naming the oscillator input XTAL1 ?) Erik |
