This is not a bad idea and I considered it when I revamped the forum last November. The main question I had was how to easily handle the uploading of files into a message. The problem isn't having a general area for graphics that don't count against a user quota--the problem is the interface of how to upload those. Any thoughts on how to implement this interface-wise so it is easy to use? That said, anyone has but to ask me for more storage and I always give it to them. The only reason storage limits exist is so some idiot doesn't start creating accounts and uploading gigabytes of data to try to saturate the webserver.
