Dear Friends,
I have been using MAX812 and MAX810 power supervisor in all of Industrial Products with 8051. I used to get MAX812 at a price of Rs. 199/- [ USD 4.5 ] from RS. This Month RS revised their prices and the price of MAX812 has been increased to Rs. 305 + 10%VAT = Rs. 336/- [ USD 7.5 ]. This made my MAX812 far more expensive than my micros :) probably this is one of the reasons for people not using supervisors. I spoke with local farnell distributor in Pune & got the quotations for STM812 Rs. 41.85 [ Less than a USD ] and MAX810 Rs. 28 [ USD 0.6 ]. Immediately placed order for 30 components enough for 2 months. :) So go ahead get supervisors they are no more expensive if purchased from proper source. Advantages of MAX812/MAX810 or STM812/STM810 1. Tiny SMD package consumes lesser space than RC reset. 2. Since no Dog built into them ALE can be disabled to reduce noise when using internal Dog. MAX1232 has this serious limitations of feeding the dog using ALE when internal dog is in use. Even when using the 1232 dog it creates trouble with ISP. 3. Cheap. Regards, Prahlad Purohit |
