What chip was that? What was the thread?

I know I should remember all that, being clever & so on, but I've just spent 10 evenings trying to get an ADSL connection working on my PC (now it's OK, of course! If ever you have to choose between a DIY installation & full tech support, take the latter & damn the cost!).
