#95418 - non-hyper-terminal Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I had no problems with Hyperterminal at tens of various PCs with almost all variations of Win. But I admit it is not too users friendly especially its setup. I don't like it but it is persent almost everywhere so its comfortable to use it rather than carrying any other tool with me.
But you can use any other terminal program capable of sending pure textfile and making delays between lines. My favorite is TeraTerm. The advantage of using this kind of tools is, that it does not hide the details of programming so you exactly know what are you doing. Additionally, you don't need to carry and install the dedicated tool e.g. to your client's computer. And it's also platformless (I don't know any usable platform without a terminal emulator; maybe even for Gameboy you could find one :-) ). And the method works well both for Philips and Atmel variety of RD2. The major drawback is the decreased comfort. For routine uploading during debugging on my desk I would perhaps use a dedicated tool, too. But, if stability is an issue, I would write my own. Jan Waclawek |
